It works by increasing platelet adhesiveness and strengthening the walls of small blood vessels (capillaries) to control blood loss. It is available as 500 mg capsules. It is used for treating excessively heavy or prolonged menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia) and also to prevent or treat bleeding before or after operations.
